Twice in a row now I have written about this hysterical movie. And some computer demon ate it both times. The mountains are calling and so I will make this very very short.
Bad Shabbos won in the Comedy category at Sedona’s International Film Festival. The film’s plot is so outrageous, the pitfalls and comlications so over the top that you cannot help but laugh. Think Moliere bedroom farce transposed to Shabbos dinner on Manhattan’s Upper West Side hosted by the Jewish parents who will be meeting their very Catholic from-the-Midwest soon-to-be-inlaws. There’s a dead body waiting in the wings just to liven things up a bit.
Some may groan at the well-worn interfaith tropes and observations. But they’d be missing the fun of the show. It has more twists than an eight-strand challah. If Good Shabbos is playing in your neighborhood go, bubbeleh, go. We can all use some laughter right about now.
Can’t wait to see it!
With so many heavy films at the festival, it was a delight to laugh out loud while watching Bad Shabbos.
Yes, there were a lot of heavier films. SO glad you liked Bad Shabbos, too.
